I really need to start getting myself to do this on the weekend. I think it would really help me, but that’s a work in progress
So I think I told you guys what I did Saturday because I just checked my My Fitness Pal and remembered that was when I worked out with Pump, and I posted our Roy Hibbert Paul George picture.
Sunday I was pretty good most of the day. I had a small thing of fried potatoes because we are hillbillies and have Sloppy Joe’s and fried potatoes on Christmas. I wasn’t going to be sticking around for my family Christmas thing though so I stole a small plate of fried potatoes.
Pump picked me up and we headed up to his apartment to drop off my crap and his Christmas stuff before heading up to pick up Justin, who’s over here from Australia for the Pacers season. We asked him if he wanted to hang out and watch basketball with us so he wasn’t alone on Christmas. That’s exactly what we did. We watched basketball from noon until after 1 am. Pump made us turkey burgers and broccoli for lunch and then healthy chili for dinner.
I did do a good amount of bored eating Sunday. Mostly pretzels but I did take down at least half of a frozen pizza. I didn’t do any exercising sunday.
Today was kind of better not so much in the food department but in the exercise department. I had McDonalds (don’t judge me monkey) then I had my way over priced crappy tiny pizza at the Pacers game. Good news is during the tailgating I didn’t have a drop of booze. Which I don’t really have a drinking problem in that I drink every day, it’s just that once I get a few drinks in me I don’t know how to say no to more drinks. Also since I’ve lost my weight I don’t know where my limit is before I fall off the edge. Another reason not mess with drinking is alcohol is 7 cal per gram YIKES!
So when I got home I ran to the gym, did about a 45 min back/bi workout, 60 minutes on mr elliptical, then ran home. probably burned around 1500 calories so I more than made up for my crappy eating. It’s 214 am now. Im out! Gotta run 5 miles tomorrow because I made a promise I would
It's so much more fun having someone to workout with!
Tonight I got to workout with Pump. Normally it’s just me working out on my own or with my trainer. But everyone once in a great while when Pump is down in my neck of the woods I sneak him in to my gym and we workout together. The first couple of times he did his thing and I did mine because I workout schedules didn’t really jive up. But today they did.
We warmed up for 10 mins then we moved on to chest and tri’s. I introduced him to 28’s on the bench press. 28’s are the same as doing 21’s but you add 7 negative reps at the end. So it was 7 reps through the top half of the ROM 7 through the bottom half, 7 full bench presses, then 7 negatives with an 8 count on the way day 1 on the way up. B-R-UTAL!! I’m a 2 set guy so everything is 2 sets.
So we did 2 sets of the 28’s on bench press
2 sets of chest fly
2 sets of push ups with our feet in the TRX
2 sets of tricep pushdown
2 sets of skull crushers
1 set of med ball chest pass. Here we kind of went our separate ways.
2 sets of Incline DB press
2 sets of funky tricep exercise I don’t know the name of
2 sets of tricep push ups on the smith machine (I couldn’t finish them all haha)
I could very well be forgetting some exercises. These probably aren’t in the right order either. I always always always super or compound set because I despise standing around waiting. I don’t want to spend all night at the gym.
Then we did 30 minutes of cardio. During this cardio I’m pretty sure I talked myself into signing up for a half marathon in November. I was saying I was giving serious thought to doing the Mini Marathon during all the Indy 500 festivities we have going on here during May, but Pump said the price just went up to $70ish and I can’t pay $70 to run 13.1 miles, just can’t do it. Plus this one being in November gives me plenty of time to get ready and it won’t be crazy ass hot! I’m nervous but pumped about this all at the same time. If you told me 3.5 years ago I would be giving serious thought to a half marathon I would have told you, you were nuts. Hell if you would have told me when I was at my thinnest when I was 213 lbs I would have to you, you were nuts. Am I starting to become a bit of a runner?? The only thing that scares me about this is my knees. I don’t know what kind of pounding they’ll take running 13.1 miles or if they can hold up to it. We’ll see………
Me and some friends went to B-Dubs to watch the Patriots game, and damn it I wish I would have looked at the nutritional information before I ate. I knew what I was having wasn’t exactly healthy but I also didn’t think it would be damn near 1100 calories. Looks like I have a billion hours of working out to do now.
Friday Friday Friday! (Yeah I'm a day late, sue me)
So yesterday waking up I figured there wasn’t much of a chance of me getting a workout in. I had to work until 130 then had my moms Christmas thing at 2 then I had to come up to pumps at 330 to get stuff planned for our Detroit trip before things closed.
But ladies and Gents we had a small little Christmas miracle! Around 930 my boss asked if we want to work through lunch to be able to leave at 1. We all said yes. He then said we could leave at 12 and not get a point against us, just lose 1 hour pay. Since I ride with my dad to work I had to do what he did, so we left at noon. So I had to quickly eat my lunch at my 10am break. Can’t go from 430am-2pm without eating something meal sized.
So I got off work went and got stuff for the gym. I was able to do 45 mins of cardio before a Christmas dinner, so I didn’t feel too bad about eating!
By the way my legs are still effin sore from those 10x10 squats!
So my buddy Jason aka “my first trainer” sent me this. They sound brutal but awesome!
Take your true 10RM and do 10 reps. Then take 3 deep breaths do one more rep. Repeat until you hit 20 reps. Drop weight 5% and repeat after 6 minutes rest. After that set drop weight another 5% and repeat for the third set, which will be the last set. Always take at least 6 minutes rest between sets but lets not get crazy on the rest time. Then in the text he says “after those 3 sets of squats you can then go about your leg workout like normal….. if you can lol” The challenge has been laid down! Can’t wait until my next leg day!!
If you couldn’t guess today was leg day. Normally I just come in and beat the dog shit out of my legs. But I was talking to my “first trainer*” and he gave me a different route today. He went into all the technical jargon on why this was a good route to go but I’ll spare you all tjat jazz.
All I did was a 10 x 10 workout with squats. So I did 70% of my 10 rep max 10 sets of 10 reps. I was using 155 lbs. The first 3 sets or so I was like this is cake walk….. you were really talking this up that much?!?! Sets 4-7 the last 3 or so were pretty hard I’d normally get stuck for split second on the 9th or 10th rep. Sets 8-10 were pretty much hell. I would get stuck for a split second at rep 5 and have to fight to finish. After that I did 45 minutes of elliptical the just because my resistance training workout was short time wise I did some unilateral legs. 130 x 10 1 leg leg press 200 x 20 calf raises (both at same time) 85 x 10 1 leg extension and curl 2 rounds. Now I’m here!
*I call Jason my first trainer because he was working at cummins when I got on the scale saw that 368 lbs and decided to do something about it. I found out he was a trainer so at break I would pick his brain. Then I found out I was getting laid off so once I had my union replacement trained I just sat by Jason with a note pad and told him to start talking. I did this every night for 2 weeks Haha
….. Will be posted tomorrow because the workout sheet my trainer printed didn’t print and I don’t remember the workout. But it was amazing! Doubtful I’ll be able to use my upper body tomorrow. I did back bi’s yesterday (back is sore) and a brutal chest tri shoulder workout today (my chest is already sore). Check back tomorrow for possibly 2 workouts
Easy ideas: get a rotisserie chicken from the market and pull it apart once you get home. Now you have flavored delicious chicken to quickly add to salad, noodles, etc. Chili is easy (just throw it all together) and can be super healthy too. :)
So for the better part of the last 3 years I’ve ate pretty much the same stuff over and over and over and now surprise surprise I’m getting really sick of the foods I eat. I think this helped lead to me putting 70 lbs back on. So I was wondering if any of you awesome peeps would be so kind as to send me some food ideas. Now please please please remember I am a guy. I keep things pretty simple. Also I normally don’t have a lot of time so simple is the key! Thanks a million in advance!
Started my weight loss competition at 278 lbs. I weighed myself after my workout today, I’m 253 lbs. Which is 3 lbs away from my original ultimate goal weight when I first started to lose weight…… again…… for the second time.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I eat when I’m bored too. I know this might be far fetched but go for a run. If you’re still bored when you get home, have a small bowl of ice cream. At least you ran and burned some cals before you took the plunge.
I would do that if it wasn’t 1030 and have to be up at 4. But i’ll keep that in mind for mid day cravings!
My fall was actually kind of badass. I fell, rolled, got back up, and kept running. I felt like I was in Mission Impossible. Minus the falling part.
That’s how my first fall was. I was running tripped started to put my hands out, my wrestling training kicked in I tucked and rolled through it popped right up and kept on goin my merry way laughing my ace off about it. This one today, not as graceful. It was straight down with a thud!
This is the second time I’ve fallen while running. The funny part is both has been in pretty much the same spot. Needless to say I’ve learned my lesson. No longer will I run north along main st on the west side of the road.
