Last week I had a pretty nasty gout flare out that pretty took me out of the gym. Walking around on it was very much painful. I was able to go in on Monday. I did as much as I could because it just had a feel to it that it was gonna be long and painful so I wanted to as much as I could. Back at again dark and early monday morning!

New England Patriots trade for Buccaneers’ Aqib Talib

The good old Pats are at it again, zigging when everyone thought they’d zag by actually making a trade at the deadline for cornerback Aqub Talib. Talib is currently suspended for Adderall but is eligible to return next week.

There’s no question he could be useful in the Patriots secondary, especially if they’d like to keep Devin McCourty at safety. Talib does have a history off the field, and with his contract expiring at the end of the year this could just be a half season rental for the Pats.

Though if Talib is smart he’d get his act together and try to lock down a job with the best run organization in the NFL. You don’t get these kinds of chances many times in life, and the need for a quality physical corner is definitely there in New England. We’ll see if he takes advantage of it and goes the route of Randy Moss or Corey Dillon, or squanders it like Albert Haynesworth.

About a month ago I quit my job as a personal trainer at the gym. I absolutely love training, I just couldn’t deal with the gym manager (Susan) anymore. Quitting the gym was something I had been thinking about for close to a year now. I kept on trucking for these reasons: 1) I LOVE training. 2) I LOVE my clients! 3) A free gym membership is sweet! 4) to spite Susan.

I had two different Personal Training Managers, who have never talked to each other, tell me that Susan had asked them to get rid of me. They both refused to do so because they saw how good I was with my clients. So I just kept on keeping on. Training my clients avoiding conversation with Susan as much as possible.

One day I overheard her (she has PT experience mind you) talking to a new trainer (one I believe isn’t certified). She gave him this awesome bit of advise: “The key to getting and keeping clients is to make them want you. Make them want to be with you. Make them fall in love with you.” I heard this and was like “WHAT THE FUCK?! THIS IS WHO I’M WORKING FOR?!?!?!” I didn’t quit on the spot but I did the next day to give me time to try to cool off and make sure it was what I wanted to do.

Fast-forward a month. I find out the gym was sold last night. Susan has been let go (I was so close to winning this war of attrition). I went in to talk to the new people about a billing issue I had. I brought up that I use to work there. The new club manager asked me if I would be interested in coming back. She took down my info (Name, number, cert info).

I post the above status on The Facebook. I thought it was awesome that just a few minutes later one of my clients posted that she would go in and request that I be brought back.

The moral of the story: I LOVE MY CLIENTS!!!

Softball recap

So last night in the rainy coldness of an Indianapolis autumn Friday evening I was scheduled to play 2 games. But since I hate hate hate being late I got to the park a little over an hour early. I’m sitting there thinking man this is gonna suck sitting out in the cold for an hour before my game starts but hey I need to get use to the cold.
Thankfully a Co-ed team didn’t have some guys show up and asked me to play. They were super short and I ended up play 1st/2nd. It was interesting. And we ended up winning so that’s always a plus.
Right after that game was my game. This field was pure mud I’m pretty sure. I don’t remember exactly how I did but o was on base more often than not and I played catcher which is super boring in slow pitch softball unless the other team jokes back with ya. We won that game don’t remember the score it was cold. Just wanted to be warm.
Then we had an hour layover, I hate the cold.
We won our second game by a couple runs, which put me to 3-0 on the night. I didn’t do so well at the plate in this game. The one ball I hit hard was right at the left fielder. There was actually a play at the plate this game and I tagged the dude out. I also got hit in the shin by a foul ball. That sucked monkey balls but I’m tough grrrrr.
A vague recap but hey I’be been hit by a lot of steel chairs and I’m getting old so my mind is slipping.
